Description
Our teacher does a great job through teaching in a fun and imaginative way. All our staff and trainees, men and women, attend classes - the younger ones for 3 hours a day (an hour more than Government schools provide). Our young women, in particular, love to learn as very few have had any education; only 19% of Afghan schools are for girls and only 5% of girls are enrolled. These daily literacy and numeracy classes really offer our young adults a future. Across Afghanistan, 80% of the teachers are untrained, and at $60 a month, an Afghan teacher's salary is among the lowest in the world. We pay our teacher $150 a month.
